How
to Print NODIS Maps
NODIS prints maps at cost, however you can print them for free by following
this basic printing procedure. (Directions are for Microsoft Word 2000.
You may have to modify directions if you are printing from another software
package.) Maps are set to print on 11 x 17 paper.
1) Copy and
Paste Map into Microsoft Word (or Similar Word Processing Software)
- Click
on the map you want to copy
- Under
the edit menu click on copy (or press CTRL + C)
- Open
Microsoft Word and start a new document
- Under
the edit menu click on paste (or press CTRL + V)
2) Change
the Paper Size to 11 x 17 & the Paper Orientation to Landscape
- Under
the file menu choose page setup
- Under
the paper size tab choose 11 x 17 in the paper size text box
- Choose
landscape in the orientation section
- Click
on OK
3) Reduce
the Margin Size
- Under
the file menu choose page setup
- Under
the margins tab change Top, Bottom, Left, & Right margins to a smaller
size. (The smaller the better.)
4) Change
the Image Size
Depending
on the size of the map you are printing you may have to reduce the size
of the image so it fits on the page.
- Click
on the map once. (You will notice a black border around it.)
- Click
and hold the mouse over a black box along the border of the map and
drag it to reduce the size of the map.
- Follow
this procedure for top, bottom, left & right sides of the map as
needed until it fits on the paper
5) Print
the Map
- Under
the file menu choose print
- Click
on properties
- Verify
map is set to 11x17 paper and orientation is landscape
- Print
the map
